Overview and Challenges

EnviroVantage contracted for abatement, demolition, and soil remediation at the unoccupied Burlington High School campus to prepare the site for a new high school construction project.

  • The layout of the campus was on a 60 ft slope adjacent to Lake Champlain with the structures densely packed.
  • PCB-contaminated building materials required that demolition took place entirely within the footprint of each building.
  • The scope of the project increased as additional ACM and PCBs were uncovered on building foundations.
  • New construction activities took place concurrently on site.

EnviroVantage worked closely with the Burlington School District and the other subcontractors to develop logistical plans that were the safest and most efficient options given the challenges of the site.

As the project scope unexpectedly increased,  EnviroVantage subcontracted another demolition company to increase capacity and expedite the schedule.
