Overview and Challenges

EnviroVantage was awarded this prime contract for Non-Time Critical Removal Action (NTCRA) as a part of CERCLA.

Our crew self-performed asbestos debris clean-up in two mobilizations. This project was part of long-term clean-up efforts for debris scattered by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. During the course of this project, the volume of debris was found to be more substantial than originally estimated due to the vegetative cover that had grown since the hurricanes hit.

Mobilization to St. John and waste load-out from the island were logistical challenges as there is no direct mode of travel from the mainland United States. All personnel, equipment, and waste were ferried to and from St. John via St. Thomas and either shipped or flown from the mainland.
